[integra-dev] integralive case study: "lichtweiss"

Hi Peter,

It's thrilling to get the dev list active and to start using real pieces as test cases for the software.

Your plan of using lichtweiss sounds like a good one, let's see if we can solve the problems.

OK, first up, I should probably point you towards our request tracker:

	http://request.integralive.org

It's really simple to add bug reports or feature requests on there without even creating an account. If you find a simple omission or bug that doesn't really need an open discussion, it's probably best to just stick it on the tracker.

Yes, there is a QuadPanner module. It just needs adding to the database. [Added to request tracker]

We have QuadOutput, OctoOutput modules, but they have not yet been added into the distribution. [Added to request tracker]

However, in the longer term, we don't really want to be representing inputs and outputs to the system as standard 'modules' in the UI, we need to think of a smarter way to do it!

It's a testing module to be removed. Please ignore it ;-)

Currently we have no MIDI or external controller modules, but these are high priority on the module TODO list.

We have a proposed module list in the project dropbox. Probably this should go on the Wiki, so people can contribute suggestions. [Added to request tracker]

Yes. Currently we have a mechanism to indicate that an attribute should be controlled logarithmically, but this information isn't interpreted in any way by the GUI. Do you want to add a request for this functionality?

Other than where I have specifically answered above, I think most of the problems of this piece can be solved with a well-designed SoundfilePlayer module. We are currently in a coding sprint in Birmingham, and I have set aside this afternoon for 3 developers to look at this.

We'll post the new version of the software with the new module at the end of this week and you can test if it meets your needs.

best,

Jamie
