When I originally looked at this (last year?) it seems like the Check
framework came up. I think one of the reasons I liked it was good/easy
autotools integration: http://www.crsr.net/Notes/CheckAndAutotools.html

... but it seems like it hasn't been updated for a while... abandonware?
or, maybe it just works!
